Addicted, bought drugs to use, sentenced to 12 months in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 29, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Gian Tu Cuong, born in 1986, residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, Tan An commune, Tan Ky district, for the crime of "illegal possession of drugs".
According to the indictment, at 1:00 p.m. on January 9, 2018, while at home, Cuong had a drug addiction attack. Cuong walked out onto the street and asked for a ride to Tan Ky town to buy drugs. When he reached block 7 (Tan Ky town), Cuong met a strange man (unknown background) who immediately gave him 200,000 VND and asked him to buy drugs for him.

After that, Cuong received a small package and hitchhiked home. At around 2:30 p.m. the same day, while walking on the inter-village road in Tan Thanh hamlet (Tan An commune), Cuong was asked by the Tan Ky district police working group to conduct an administrative check.
Through inspection, the working group discovered a small package on Cuong's body, suspected to be heroin. The Investigation Police Agency (Tan Ky District Police) sent the sample for examination. In the examination conclusion No. 185-KL-PC54 dated January 11, 2018 of the Criminal Techniques Department (Nghe An Provincial Police), it was concluded that the white powder sample weighing 0.185 grams seized from Cuong was heroin.
At the investigation agency, Cuong confessed all his crimes.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Gian Tu Cuong to 12 months in prison.
