School calendar for the 2025-2026 school year in 34 provinces and cities across the country

More than 30 localities have announced the school year 2025-2026 schedule, with some provinces and cities allowing students to return to class earlier than the general schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Ho Chi Minh City, Hue and many other localities let students go to school early.

In Ho Chi Minh City, students in grades 1, 9 and 12 will return to school from August 20, 2025, and the remaining grades from August 25, 2025.

In Hue, students in grades 1, 9 and 12 will return to school from August 21, 2025, and other grades from August 25, 2025.

Southern region

An Giang:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 22, other grades August 29, 2025.

Ca Mau:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 25, other grades from August 28, 2025.

Khanh Hoa:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 20, other grades from August 27, 2025.

Quang Ngai:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 22, other grades from August 29, 2025.

Northern region

Tuyen Quang:Students in grades 1, 9 and 12 have returned to school since August 18, 2025.

Bac Ninh:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 20, other grades from August 26, 2025.

Hung Yen:Grades 1, 9, 12 return to school from August 22, other grades from August 29, 2025.

Other provinces have not announced schedules yet.

Many provinces such as Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Da Nang, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri… have not yet given a specific schedule. It is highly likely that they will apply the general framework of the Ministry of Education and Training.

National master plan framework

According to Decision 2269/QD-BGDDT in 2025, the 2025-2026 school year planning framework is applied uniformly:

School starts at least 1 week before the opening day, except for grades 1, 9, and 12 which can start 2 weeks earlier.

Opening date: September 5, 2025.

End of semester I: before January 18, 2026.

End of school year: before May 31, 2026.

Consideration for junior high school graduation and primary school completion: before June 30, 2026.

Admission to primary level: before July 31, 2026.

High school graduation exam: expected June 11-12, 2026.
