Story of a fisherman from Nghe An who escaped death after being sunk by a cargo ship at sea
(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on April 28, relatives and many fellow fishermen came to Lach Van Border Control Station to welcome the Dien Chau fishermen on the fishing boat that was sunk by a cargo ship at sea back in tears. All four fishermen on the boat that was sunk were from the same family.
Returning from the brink of death, the captain of the NA 90712 TS ship Pham Van Tuan (born in 1988) was still shocked as he recounted the incident: On the afternoon of April 27, my 330 CV fishing boat started to leave the port. On board were my father Pham Van So, my son Pham Van Hai and my nephew Pham Van Cuong, all residing in Bac Chien Thang hamlet, Dien Bich commune (Dien Chau).

Nghe An fishermen's fishing boat was sunk by a cargo ship at sea
(Baonghean.vn) - A fishing boat was operating at sea when it was sunk by a cargo ship and then fled without returning to help.
"At that time, only I was awake because I was driving the ship, the other 3 people were sleeping. After a few minutes of being stunned, realizing that our ship would sink quickly, all 4 of us jumped out of the ship. As for the cargo ship, after crashing into our ship, they left immediately. Because their ship only had a red light on behind, we could not clearly see the ship's name and license plate, we only saw that the ship was loaded with a lot of goods.
As for our boat, it sank just 10 minutes later. Luckily, a fishing boat from the same commune not far away came and picked up the four of us. We were then picked up by a canoe from Dien Thanh Border Guard Station and taken to Lach Van Control Station. My family bought the sunken fishing boat back in 2016 for 700 million VND. We only hope that the authorities will investigate and clarify the matter to partially compensate us for our losses,” Mr. Tuan choked up.

Fisherman Pham Van So (father of Pham Van Tuan) shared: At that time, my two children and I were sleeping when we heard a loud noise and the ship was hit and rocked. I was startled and woke up to see that the ship had started to sink. I quickly threw life jackets for the children to wear and we all jumped into the sea. Although we tried to shout at the cargo ship, they kept going and did not stop. I am old and weak, I was only worried that I could not stay at sea for long, but I was supported by my children and luckily a fellow fisherman's ship arrived in time, otherwise it would be difficult to save my life.
After being brought to Lach Van Border Control Station, the victims were examined and cared for by doctors. At the same time, the authorities also took statements to serve the investigation of the accident.

Captain Huynh Van Khanh - Head of Lach Van Border Station (Dien Thanh Border Station) said: Currently, the fishing boat of fisherman Pham Van Tuan has completely sunk, because it is far from shore, so salvage is difficult. As for the crew members, their health is currently stable, with only minor scratches on the skin. After taking statements, we will report to superiors and closely coordinate with functional forces to investigate the cause of the accident.
