Dead pigs in Quynh Thach (Quynh Luu) tested negative for African swine fever

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 16, information from the Animal Husbandry - Veterinary Station of Quynh Luu district said that the test sample of a dead pig in Quynh Thach commune was negative for African swine fever.

Mr. Tran Minh Quan - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Quynh Luu district told reporters that on March 15, in Quynh Thach commune, a pig weighing 25 kg died due to disease.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Station coordinated with the Veterinary Department of Region III to take samples for testing.

By 3:00 p.m. on March 16, the Veterinary Agency of Region III had negative test results for African swine fever.

Mr. Hoang Dang Khoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Thach commune said: According to the commune's statistics in early March, there were still 899 pigs in the commune. Although the test sample of the pig that died on March 15 was negative for African swine fever, the commune has established 2 teams to go to the households to check and instruct people on how to prevent African swine fever; at the same time, set up quarantine checkpoints in and out of the commune.

In another development, on the afternoon of March 16, at the barn of Mrs. Ha Thi Ngai's family - Hamlet 5, Quynh Hoa Commune, a pig weighing about 80 kg died. Upon receiving the information, Mr. Dang Van Minh, Deputy Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, directed the specialized agency to take samples for testing, then destroy them on the spot.

It is worth mentioning that hamlet 5 of Quynh Hoa commune borders hamlet 8 of Quynh Lam commune, where an outbreak of African swine fever has just occurred./.
