Former Vice Chairman of Commune Arrested for Job Fraud
As Vice Chairman of the commune, Mr. Hien received money from a person who promised to find a job for this person's daughter, but later, Mr. Hien tried to avoid it and refused to return the money.
On September 25, information from the Investigation Police Agency of Cu Mgar District Police, Dak Lak Province said that the unit had issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain Mr. Mai Hien (41 years old, residing in Cu Sue Commune, Mr. Hien was formerly Vice Chairman of Cu Sue Commune People's Committee) to investigate and clarify the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Previously, in November 2016, Mr. Le Ngoc Nham (residing in Quang Phu town, Cu Mgar district) submitted a petition to the authorities accusing Mr. Hien of having signs of fraud and appropriating his family's property.
According to the complaint, when Mr. Hien was still the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cu Sue commune, he raised the issue and promised to find a job for Mr. Nham's daughter to work as an accountant in Quang Tien commune, Cu Mgar district for 100 million VND.
Trusting him, Mr. Nham’s family gave Mr. Hien 50 million VND to ask for his “help”. However, more than a year later, Mr. Nham’s daughter still could not go to work as Mr. Hien had promised, so the family asked for the money back, but Mr. Hien deliberately refused to pay and tried to avoid paying. Therefore, Mr. Nham’s family filed a complaint with the authorities.

After receiving the complaint, the local authorities of Cu Mgar district took action to clarify the matter. On July 26, 2017, the Cu Mgar District Party Committee disciplined Mr. Hien by removing him from the position of member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Cu Sue commune, term V. On that basis, at the meeting of the People's Council of Cu Sue commune, Mr. Hien was dismissed from the position of People's Council Delegate and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune.
Next, Mr. Hien was also disciplined with a warning for abusing his assigned authority, handling citizens' cases without proper procedures, mobilizing officials without proper authority, working in an improper manner, working outside of office hours without reporting and without the consent of superiors.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Cu Mgar District Police.
