According to Colonel Nguyen Hoang Thang - Chief of Binh Thanh District Police, Ho Chi Minh City: Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the district police quickly directed professional forces to launch a hot investigation.
Through investigation, it was determined that the victim's lost property included a handbag, 500,000 VND and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone. Because the remaining female victim, Nguyen Hong Truc Vy (born in 1993, residing in Go Vap district), was still in a coma, the units had to search for clues from traces of blurry images from the security camera system. The professional teams checked all pawn shops and phone purchasing stores in the area and some areas in Thu Duc and Go Vap districts were screened for many days.
Afterwards, information about a woman selling a phone similar to the victim's phone with suspicious behavior was reported by the people. Approaching this person, the police found out that Tran Thanh Tin (born 2003, residing in Ward 21, Binh Thanh District) was the person who sold the phone.
From the data in the camera image, the body shape matched Tin's, so the police summoned Tin to the headquarters to take a statement. Here, Tin confessed that because he needed money to play games and spend, he and Ngo Hoang Anh (born 2000, residing in Ward 22, Binh Thanh District) took a motorbike to rob.
Immediately afterwards, detectives also approached Ngo Hoang Anh's private home to capture the accomplice. It is known that the two suspects who caused this case were both local bad elements. Since childhood, they were too naughty, lacked family education, and were expelled from school.
