Limping mother raising paralyzed child
(Baonghean.vn) - The image of a limping mother pushing a wheelchair to take her paralyzed child to school twice a day is pitiful, of Tran Thi Huong (48 years old) and her child in Trung Duc village, Vo Liet commune (Thanh Chuong).
Ms. Huong has a congenital disability and is in poor health. Every day, she sells tea at Ro market to earn money to raise her children. Her son, Tran Van Thanh (11 years old), a 4B student at Vo Liet 2 Primary School, has a paralyzed leg and cannot walk. Thanh has been sick for several years. At first, he was limping, then he could walk while crawling, and now he has to use a wheelchair. His mother helps him with all his daily activities.

The mother and daughter lived in a small house, which was built with loans from relatives under the policy of eliminating dilapidated houses. Because they had no money or garden space, when the construction was completed, the superiors came to inspect and said that the house did not have enough space, so they could not receive support.
Currently, the mother and child, sometimes living in a thatched house, the water level is low, and sometimes living in a corrugated iron house, they are in debt, so they never dare to think about taking their child to the hospital. Ms. Huong sadly said: “I gave birth to a child hoping that in the future I would have a place to rely on, but I didn’t expect my child to become more and more sick, and I am often sick…”

Tran Thi Huong and her children go to school. |
Last year, the teacher took pity on him and contacted the Child Welfare Center to get Thanh a wheelchair. Every day at home, Thanh just wandered around the cramped house, crawling on his hands and feet, getting on the bed and then off the floor. Thanh said: “I want to go to school with my friends, I don’t want to stay at home.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang - Head of the Women's Association of the hamlet said: "A sick mother and child have to take care of each other, it's really pitiful, the child is getting older but can't walk, the mother is getting sicker and sicker, it's hard to take care of the child. Ms. Huong's family situation is very difficult, I hope the community will care and share"./.
