Launching a peak period of propaganda and inspection of fire safety in residential areas and households

Over the past years, under the leadership of the Party and Government, the attention and close direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the drastic participation of Party committees, authorities and the masses, in which the core is the police force, the workFire Prevention and Rescueachieved many important results. However, the fire and explosion situation is still complicated and has tended to increase recently.

According to statistics, in the past 3 years (2018 - 2020), there were 10,930 incidents nationwide, killing 235 people, injuring 508 people, causing property damage estimated at VND 4,911.3 billion and about 30,901.9 hectares of forest. Of which, 118 major fires occurred, killing 30 people, injuring 72 people, causing property damage estimated at VND 4,036.1 billion and 193 fires caused serious human damage, killing 205 people, injuring 436 people.

Recently, a fire broke out on the 3rd floor of Truong Thinh apartment building (Vinh city) due to residents carelessly forgetting to turn off the stove.

At the conference, Major General Nguyen Tuan Anh - Director of Department C07 focused on discussing and analyzing the causes as well as solutions to prevent and stop large fires and fires that cause serious damage. Most of the causes are due to system and electrical equipment failures; due to technical failures of equipment, machinery, etc. The Major General also requested fire prevention units and localities to learn from experience to come up with solutions.fire and explosion preventionand rescue mobilized many local forces and vehicles for timely rescue.

In addition, focus on reviewing, proposing amendments and supplements to the provisions of the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting in accordance with practical requirements, and supplementing fire prevention and fighting standards and regulations in accordance with current economic and social development conditions.

To strengthen fire safety measures to minimize the number of cases and damage caused by fires and explosions, at this conference, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security also launched a peak period across the country in general and Nghe An in particular on propaganda and inspection of fire safety in residential areas, households, and houses combined with production and business.

Nghe An Police has the responsibility to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue directive documents and plans to organize propaganda and fire safety inspections for the subjects listed above. Coordinate with departments, branches, organizations and unions to promote propaganda work; build advanced examples and typical models of actively participating in fire prevention and fighting; build topics, reports, models, clips to guide fire prevention and fighting skills;... thereby contributing to raising people's awareness in fire prevention and fighting to minimize unnecessary consequences./.
