This is the result after more than a year, Ms. Ho Thi Thuy in Tan Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop, boldly converted passion fruit trees to replace acacia trees on her family's hilly land.

After learning from the experience of her brothers in Que Phong district - the cradle of passion fruit in Nghe An, realizing that the soil quality and farming conditions in Que Phong were similar to the land where she lived, in February 2016, Ms. Thuy boldly invested about 100 million VND to test-plant nearly 1 hectare of passion fruit in Tan Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune. By April 2017, Ms. Thuy's family's passion fruit trees had begun to bear fruit.

Ms. Ho Thi Thuy, Tan Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop said: "It's just the first crop but my family has harvested 15 tons of fruit, sold in the garden for 15,000 VND/kg, which is more than 200 million VND."

By diligently researching and learning about the growth and development of passion fruit trees in Que Phong, after nearly 1 year of planting and caring for them, Ms. Thuy's family has recovered their investment capital and made initial profits. With nearly 1 hectare of passion fruit trees bearing fruit since April, Ms. Thuy has harvested the first crop and expects to have about 15 tons left.

Passion fruit is a year-round fruiting plant, so its productivity and economic value are many times higher than other crops. From the second year onwards, passion fruit trees can yield 30-40 tons of fruit/year/ha. After 3 years of harvesting, new roots must be planted.

Growing passion fruit requires little care and the investment capital is not much, but passion fruit trees bring high economic efficiency, so Ms. Thuy is planning to invest in expanding by 1 hectare in the near future. Although it is a spontaneous model, the economic efficiency from passion fruit brings to Ms. Ho Thi Thuy's family is very good.

Mr. Ho Sy Tam, head of Tan Thanh hamlet, Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop, Nghe An said: "The first model of Tan Thanh hamlet on growing passion fruit has been successful, showing that if you are bold and determined, getting rich is not difficult."
