A fisherman in Quynh Phuong ward (Hoang Mai town) hit a jackpot with a batch of sea cucumbers, selling them to traders at the port for 500 million VND.

On the morning of December 16, after 7 days of fishing in the Gulf of Tonkin, fishing boat NA95444 TS, owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Xuan, residing in Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, docked at Quynh Phuong fishing port.
On this trip, in addition to fish and shrimp, his boat also caught a big haul of 500 sea cucumbers.

According to experienced fishermen, sea cucumbers are available all year round but are most delicious from October to February of the lunar calendar. At this time, female sea cucumbers also have many eggs and fatty, firm meat.
Sea cucumber is a valuable seafood, purchased by traders to sell to restaurants, hotels and imported to China. The price of sea cucumber is quite high, 250,000 VND/kg, the weight of each sea cucumber ranges from 4-6kg.

After docking at the fishing port, all the sea cucumbers were purchased by traders at 250,000 VND/kg, Mr. Xuan's fishing boat earned 500 million VND. Each sailor was paid over 10 million VND after 7 days of fishing.
Ms. Thuong Hoe, owner of the sea cucumber purchasing facility in Quynh Phuong ward, informed: "The purchased sea cucumber is raised in an aeration tank and then transported by specialized vehicles to restaurants, hotels and exported to China. Sea cucumber is quite rare because it is difficult to exploit, so it is easy to consume even though the price is quite expensive."
