US accuses North Korean hackers of causing series of cyber attacks
The US has charged North Korean hacker Park Jin-hyok with carrying out major cyber attacks against Sony Corp, the Bangladesh central bank and Britain's National Health Service.
On September 6, the US Department of Justice charged North Korean hacker Park Jin-hyok with causing serious cyber attacks against Sony Corporation (2014), the Central Bank of Bangladesh (2016) and the UK National Health System (2017).
The Justice Department said the investigation is ongoing, including activities in 2018. It is not yet clear whether North Korea has given US officials access to the hackers.
Previously, the US Treasury Department accused the hackers of being involved in "serious cyber-attacks" linked to the North Korean government.
In addition, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) also sanctioned a technology joint venture company in Pyongyang called Korea Expo Joint Venture, also known as Chosun Expo, for its involvement in the North Korean government's malicious cyber activities./.
