According to TASS on August 31, American economist and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, said that the Ukraine conflict could end with a phone call between the US and Russian leaders; during that time, the US President would abandon the idea of further NATO expansion.

“Mr. Trump is absolutely right when he says that this war could be over in a day. This is not hyperbole. The war will be over the moment the US president picks up the phone, calls Russian President Vladimir Putin and says, ‘NATO expansion is a bad idea,’” Professor Jeffrey Sachs said in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson.

After that, many more issues will need to be resolved, “but the war will end,” Sachs said. The expert noted that the US administration’s statement that Ukraine will one day become part of NATO “will be the basis for ensuring that the war will continue.”

Professor Jeffrey Sachs added that the Americans are fighting alongside the Ukrainian Armed Forces and making strategic decisions.

“We are in a hot war situation, because we are not only providing finance, equipment, targeting, strategy, advice, but also personnel on the ground. They are not necessarily in American uniforms, sometimes they are called mercenaries, simply not identified. But they accept the tasks assigned to them, and Russia knows that. This is a cause for concern,” said Professor Jeffrey Sachs.
