America creates second skin to help 'rejuvenate'
(Baonghean.vn) - Good news for women in preserving their skin from aging. Recently, American scientists have developed a new transparent material that covers the skin, also known as "secondary skin", which has the ability to reduce wrinkles, tighten the skin and remove eye bags.

The new compound can create a transparent coating on the skin, creating cosmetic effects as well as delivering drugs to the skin area that needs treatment, said Daniel Anderson of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This combined mechanism of action makes it ideal for humans.
According to an article published in the journal "Nature Materials", to use it, users will cover this polymer on the skin in 2 steps, first with a layer of polymer and then a layer of platinum catalyst to help the polymer layer form a durable film that can stick to the skin for up to 24 hours and help the skin retain moisture.
These layers when applied to the skin are no different than a cream or ointment but then create a film that is invisible to the naked eye.

Over the past five years, scientists have been working to create a polymer that can have the properties of natural skin, such as being flexible to the elasticity of human skin and not causing irritation, but have not achieved many positive results.
However, the latest product called XPL is an improvement over current treatment and cosmetic methods such as silicone gel or polyurethane films.
The new product is still in development and has not yet been introduced to the market. Researchers are currently looking at ways to improve this "secondary skin" to help protect human skin from the effects of sunlight and ultraviolet rays, as well as eczema and dermatitis.
