According to him, the interaction between NATO and Kiev will become a "strong signal" to Moscow. Now the alliance must show Russia the value of Ukraine's "transatlantic choice", the foreign minister said.
The issue of Ukraine joining NATO
Previously, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that to join the alliance, Ukraine needs to meet a number of criteria, which will take a long time to implement. According to some experts,Kiev will not be able to apply for NATO membership within 20 yearsnext.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the worsening situation in Donbass and said that the North Atlantic Alliance is the only way to end the conflict there. Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Ukraine's accession to NATO would exacerbate internal problems, and for the people of the self-proclaimed republics, joining the Alliance is an unacceptable prospect.
