(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 16, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Committee to organize a ceremony to mobilize students to strictly comply with the law on traffic order and safety at the beginning of the new school year 2023-2024.

The program was organized in the form of direct online coordination, connecting with 63 departments of education and training nationwide. In Nghe An, the launching ceremony was held at Le Viet Thuat High School, with the participation of leaders of the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, relevant departments and branches, schools located in Vinh city and a large number of students in the whole school.

In recent years, with the participation of the entire political system, traffic accidents in our country have decreased sharply each year in all three criteria: number of accidents, number of deaths and number of injuries. However, traffic accidents are still a burning issue for the whole society, causing serious damage to people and property.

In the education sector, it is a reality that students are both victims and causes of traffic accidents, because some students have limited awareness and skills when participating in traffic, violating traffic safety laws such as: not wearing helmets when riding motorbikes, electric bicycles (especially, in recent years, the phenomenon of high school students going to school by electric bicycles, motorbikes, and motorbikes has been common in all provinces and cities across the country), riding in pairs, threes, carrying more people than the prescribed number, speeding, recklessly overtaking, weaving, swerving, drinking alcohol while participating in traffic...

Currently, the entire education sector has over 23 million students, who are the future generation and an important factor in the sustainable development of the country. Therefore, educating and training the young generation to become citizens with comprehensive development in health, intelligence, and awareness of law compliance is the main goal of educational institutions. In particular, education worktraffic safetyin schools is one of the key tasks to protect children from the dangers of traffic accidents.

The implementation of this work also aims to effectively implement the Secretariat's Directive and the Government's Resolution on ensuring traffic order and safety, contributing to the goal of reducing the number of cases, deaths, injuries caused by traffic accidents and limiting damage caused by traffic accidents in the coming time.

The 2023-2024 school year is the year to promote and improve the effectiveness of traffic safety education for students, contributing to legal education, ethics education, lifestyle, and life skills for the young generation.

To further improve traffic safety education in schools, speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Dat - Acting Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs - Ministry of Education and Training requested the departments of education and training and schools to focus on implementing well the peak period in response to the Traffic Safety Action Month (September 2023) and the entire 2023-2024 school year. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen and innovate the propaganda and education of traffic safety laws in the direction of increasing the initiative and creativity of students, integrating with movements and activities of schools in a suitable and effective manner.

At the same time, close, synchronous and effective coordination between the education sector and relevant agencies, especially the police, is needed to strictly handle violations and create multi-sided impacts on traffic safety education for students.

During this school year, general education institutions will organize for parents to sign a commitment with the school not to give motorbikes to students who are underage, do not have a driver's license, and to wear helmets for students when riding motorbikes, scooters and electric two-wheeled vehicles; wear life jackets when riding boats...

Schools also need to strengthen education on life skills, escape skills, self-protection skills... so that students can improve their ability to solve problems in their studies and lives, and increase safety when participating in traffic.

Universities and colleges of education need to thoroughly educate staff, teachers and students to strictly comply with regulations on alcohol concentration when driving vehicles; regulations on wearing helmets; practice civilized behavior when participating in traffic; and voluntarily comply with traffic safety laws.

I call on teachers, students and pupils to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on traffic safety, specifically:Must wear a helmet; Must drive in the correct lane; Must reduce speed from side roads to main roads; Do not drive after drinking alcohol; Do not speed or overtake recklessly; Do not drive a motorbike or scooter if you are underage or do not have a driver's license..
