Nghe An education sector inspects and supports schools to overcome floods

(Baonghean.vn) - The recent floods have affected dozens of schools in Nghe An province and up to now, thousands of students are still absent from school and unable to go to school.

On the morning of November 2, the Department of Education and Training inspected the damage caused by storms and floods and provided support to several schools that suffered heavy damage in Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, and Yen Thanh districts.

During the recent flood,Thanh Chuongis one of the districts that suffered heavy damage with a total amount of more than 900 million VND. Up to this point, there are still about 60 schools that are flooded or isolated so students have not returned to school.

Inspecting the situation affected by rain and flood at Thanh Ha Kindergarten and Primary School, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh shared the difficulties and losses of the schools.

In addition, timely encouragement was also given to officers, soldiers, teachers and staff who are participating in storm and flood recovery work at the school. With the motto "wherever water goes, clean up", the school is urgently carrying out the recovery of damage caused by rain and flood.

Currently, Thanh Ha Primary School has basically overcome the consequences of the flood. As for Thanh Ha Kindergarten, thefixwill be more difficult because all the equipment, utensils, and toys of the school are damaged. For now, during the inspection, the Department of Education and Training has awarded each school 20 million VND in support.

In Do Luong district, according to the report of the district Department of Education and Training, there are currently 12 schools where students have not returned to school due to the terrain being cut off. In the whole district, during this flood, 7 schools were affected by collapsed fences and flooding. Up to this point, the recovery work has basically been completed.

Working with the Department of Education and the Board of Directors of Minh Son Primary School - the most damaged school in Do Luong district, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training praised the quick recovery work of the district's education sector. At the same time, they hoped that schools would continue to make efforts to soon stabilize teaching and learning.

In Yen Thanh district, the district’s education sector also suffered losses of more than 700 million VND during the recent flood. At this time, 3 kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in Long Thanh commune are still flooded and students cannot return to school.

Handing over the support money to schools in Long Thanh commune, the Director of the Department of Education and Training said: After calculating all the damages, the Department of Education and Training will make a list and continue to have specific and detailed support plans for schools damaged in the recent flood.
