“Saturday for new countryside”
In 2019, An Hoa is one of the five communes striving to reach the new rural area (NTM) goal of Quynh Luu district. To achieve this goal, recently, the Standing Committee of the Commune Fatherland Front has launched a competition movement: civil servants and public employees implement "Saturday for the new rural area".
Accordingly, every Saturday, all cadres, civil servants and public employees of the commune go to work as usual, go to the village base to carry out tasks related to the new rural area. Through specific tasks such as: Directing and guiding the villages under their charge to build rural roads, supporting some villages in site clearance, repairing the village's cultural house and sports field. Decorating residential areas, renovating flower gardens, ornamental plants, protecting works. Directing residential areas to participate in general environmental cleaning, planting flowers on the roadsides, creating a green - clean - beautiful landscape.
Although it has only been launched for nearly a month, the spirit of Saturday to help people build new rural areas has really spread to every cadre, civil servant and employee of An Hoa commune. Ms. Mai Thi Ha - an official of An Hoa commune shared: “Instead of taking days off after a week of work, we return to the people. This is not only part of our responsibility, but only when we go to the grassroots level can we understand the difficulties and hardships of the people. Through each practical experience, we gain more knowledge and experience in the work process. Although we are tired, we feel happy and meaningful when participating with the people in building new rural areas, determined to bring our commune to the finish line this year”.

Quynh Luu Power Company is currently managing 112,000 customers of Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town, managing 640km of medium voltage lines and 1,200km of low voltage lines. To better meet the needs of customers, in early 2018, Quynh Luu Power Company directed officials and employees of the Electricity sector to launch the "Saturday without pay" movement. Mr. Phan Van Ha - Director of Quynh Luu Power Company said: "Due to the large amount of work, degraded power grid, and limited human resources, after many meetings, we also encouraged our employees to work extra on Saturdays. After a year of doing less work, it turns out that in 1 month, our employees also worked nearly 270 extra working days such as installing, transferring new power lines, promptly repairing grid incidents...".
The practical activities on Saturday for the people carried out by units, cadres, officials and civil servants in Quynh Luu district have really brought about efficiency, thereby contributing to solving the legitimate needs and aspirations of the people. This is also a good and effective model that needs to be learned and replicated by localities.
