1. Achieved and exceeded 27/27 targets

Of the 27 main planned targets for 2017, 20 targets were achieved and 7 targets were exceeded, including: Industrial and construction production value 16.01% (Plan 13-14%); Budget revenue 12,030.7 billion VND (Plan 11,590 billion VND); Total export turnover 976 million USD (Plan 855 million USD); Communes meeting NTM standards 22 (Plan 20); Percentage of communes meeting national criteria on health 85% (Plan 82%); Percentage of commune-level units with cultural and sports institutions meeting national standards 40% (Plan 31%); Percentage of population participating in health insurance 85.62% (Plan 83.8%).

In 2017, Nghe An achieved and exceeded 27/27 targets according to the plan.

2. Estimated growth rate is 8.25%

Central leaders, Nghe An province and The Vissai Cement Group issued the order to operate Song Lam Cement Factory.

The growth rate in 2017 (estimated at 8.25%) is higher than the growth rate of many recent years (increased by 7.13% in 2014, 6.81% in 2015, and 7.22% in 2016), higher than the average growth rate of the whole country (6.7%). Budget revenue in 2017 reached about 12,030.7 billion VND, equal to 103.8% of the estimate and increased by 9.3% compared to 2016.

3. Provincial competitiveness index increased by 7 places

On March 14, 2017, VCCI announced the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 2016, according to which Nghe An increased 7 ranks, ranking 25th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. In 2017, Nghe An established an Investment Promotion and Support Center under the Provincial People's Committee; promoted support and created favorable conditions for investors; organized a meeting with investors in the early Spring of Dinh Dau 2017; promoted investment in Australia; coordinated investment promotion in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea and Ho Chi Minh City.

4. Opening Vissai wharf No. 1 and No. 2, receiving 70,000-ton cargo ships

On October 21, Nghe An put into use wharfs No. 1 and No. 2, welcoming 70,000-ton ships to VISSAI port in Nghi Thiet commune (Nghi Loc), a typical event for a year of construction commencement and inauguration of many large projects. Focusing on implementing: VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park, Project 02 Industrial Parks of Hemaraj Group, Masan, FLC... Speeding up the progress of the road connecting National Highway 1A - Nghia Dan District - Thai Hoa town, Vinh Urban Project (WB), DKC Petroleum Depot, Vissai Seaport, Wharf No. 5, 6 Cua Lo Port... Inaugurating and putting into operation the road connecting National Highway 7-N5-D4 to Nghi Thiet, Vinpearl Cua Hoi Project Complex,...

5. Top in the country for excellent students in national, regional and international competitions

In the 2016-2017 school year, Nghe An had 8 students winning international and regional prizes; including 5 international prizes (2 gold medals in Math and Physics, 2 silver medals in Chemistry and Physics, 1 first prize in Russian international essay writing); 3 regional prizes (1 silver medal, 1 certificate of merit at the Asian Physics Olympiad, 1 student won a gold medal at the East Asian Chess Championship); there were 111 national excellent students, an increase of 5 students compared to 2016.

6. Coordinating the organization of APEC SDMOF 11 Conference

The 11th APEC SDMOF took place in Vinh city from September 21 to 22, 2017. The conference was attended by about 200 delegates from APEC economies, international organizations, businesses and senior officials. During the year, foreign affairs activities were promoted, traditional cooperative relations were strengthened, especially with 6 provinces of Laos; cooperation with Ulianov province (Russian Federation)...

7. Natural disasters and floods cause serious impacts

The total economic damage caused by natural disasters in Nghe An is about 2,687,08 billion VND. Especially the impact of storms No. 2, No. 4, No. 10. Tornadoes, thunderstorms, storms, floods have killed 21 people, 2 people are missing, 15 people are injured; 175 houses collapsed, swept away, 134 houses were severely damaged, 1,494 houses were severely damaged, 4,305 houses were flooded, 57,868.28 hectares of production area were damaged; 1,299 livestock and 75,897 poultry were killed, many structures were damaged... VTB 26 ship carrying 4,700 tons of coal and 13 crew members sank while anchored at Hon Ngu sea.

8. Estimated number of visitors and tourists reached 5.96 million.

The total number of visitors and tourists increased sharply again, estimated at 5.96 million, of which 3.85 million were staying, equal to 135% of 2016; there were 109,100 international visitors, equal to 142% of 2016. Total revenue from tourism was estimated at 6,086 billion VND. On January 6, 2017, the Provincial People's Committee announced the establishment of Nghe An Department of Tourism.

Destination Tea Island - Cau Cau Dam, Thanh Chuong district is one of the new favorite destinations.

9. Song Lam Nghe An Club won the 2017 National Cup

SLNA continues to affirm that it is the most successful professional football club in the country, contributing to the bright spots of Nghe An's 2017 sports picture: High-performance sports achieved 303 medals, including 1 silver medal in the Asian Championship, 1 silver medal, 4 bronze medals in the Southeast Asian Championship and 64 national medals. 480/480 communes and 21/21 districts, cities and towns organized quality Sports Festivals.

10. Implementing autonomy plan at 8 hospitals

Autonomous organization in performing tasks, organizing apparatus, personnel, and finance at 8 hospitals: 5 provincial hospitals; 2 regional general hospitals and Vinh City General Hospital. The whole province has about 7.7 doctors/10,000 people; 27.5 hospital beds/10,000 people; 90% of commune health stations have doctors working.
