Nghe An: 10 months, nearly 68 billion VND fined for traffic safety violations

Reporting on the results of ensuring traffic order and safety in 2017, Director of the Department of Transport Nguyen Hong Ky affirmed: During the year, this work was focused on by all levels and sectors with many positive and drastic solutions and measures.

That is to launch a campaign to clear violations of traffic safety corridors and sidewalks across the province according to Resolution No. 56/2016/NQ-HDND of the province; strengthen inspection of State management work on ensuring traffic safety and order on roads, railways, and waterways; direct the rectification of State management work in all fields related to ensuring traffic safety and order, such as planning, construction, land, natural resources and environment; strengthen control of vehicle weight...

All levels, sectors and forces have also stepped up propaganda and education work, raising awareness and compliance with traffic safety laws; combined with increased patrolling, control and handling of violations. As a result, in the first 10 months of the year, 90,324 cases of administrative violations were detected and recorded, of which 87,154 violators complied with the decision to impose fines totaling nearly 68 billion VND.

Although many measures have been actively implemented, however, the awareness of compliance with traffic safety laws in general has not had many positive changes. For example, in the first 10 months of 2017, the whole province still had 151 deaths due to traffic accidents; injuring 145 people. There are 7 localities with an increase in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents, such as Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Nghi Loc, Yen Thanh, Hung Nguyen, Quynh Luu.

To continue to better ensure traffic safety and order, according to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien, in parallel with the focused solutions, in 2018 it is necessary to continue to clear land, prevent re-encroachment, and handle responsibilities for organizations and individuals in this issue.

Along with that, all levels and sectors must pay attention to prioritizing investment in infrastructure, especially on roads with high risk of traffic safety loss; at the same time, speed up the implementation of roads under construction, ensuring safety and preventing congestion.

Particularly for Vinh city, strive to start construction of the Northern bus station in the first quarter of 2018 to relocate the current Vinh bus station from the center, reducing congestion on inner-city routes.

Concluding this content, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that although the growth rate of vehicles participating in traffic in the province is large, all levels, sectors and forces have taken action and deployed many measures to ensure traffic order and safety. However, the results have not been as expected, so he requested all levels and sectors to continue to find all solutions and measures, and persistently and successfully implement Resolution No. 56/2016/Provincial People's Council.
