Nghe An: 100% of ships have contacted to avoid storm number 3
(Baonghean.vn) - Since yesterday afternoon, local authorities and Border Guard Stations have been propagating and mobilizing fishermen to bring their boats to avoid storm No. 3. By noon on August 1, most of the boats had been contacted and found safe places to avoid the storm.
Quynh Luu has 43 fishing boats on their way to shore.
To proactively respond to storm No. 3, Quynh Luu district is focusing on calling on fishing boats at sea to return to safe storm shelters, and at the same time directing coastal communes to develop plans to evacuate households in threatened areas when necessary.

Quynh Luu district currently has nearly 1,200 vessels, including more than 900 offshore fishing vessels owned by fishermen from Tien Thuy, Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia and Son Hai communes. All vessels will anchor at two major fishing ports, Lach Quen and Lach Thoi.
According to data from Border Guard Station 148 Quynh Thuan, the unit is managing 939 vessels with 6,516 workers. By the morning of August 1, 708 vessels with 4,158 workers had anchored at the two fishing ports of Lach Quen and Lach Thoi. During the time of sheltering from storm No. 3, 23 vessels with 246 workers from Quynh Luu also anchored at a fishing port in Quang Binh province; more than 200 offshore fishing vessels are on their way ashore to shelter from the storm.
For the vessels that have returned to shore, the unit will assign officers to the area to propagate and instruct fishermen on how to prevent and anchor to avoid collisions with boats when there are big waves and strong winds. For the vessels that are on their way to shore, the unit will continuously call to update the situation; at the same time, it will require the fishing cooperatives at sea to inform each other, and no vessels must stay behind to fish.
By 11:00 a.m. the same day, the district still had 43 offshore fishing boats on their way to take shelter from the storm; 32 boats anchored in Quang Binh, 2 in Quang Nam; the rest had returned to anchor safely at Lach Quen and Lach Thoi fishing ports.
Hoang Mai town fishermen proactively seek shelter from storm
On the afternoon of August 1, in an exchange with Mr. Phan The Huy - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Phuong Ward (Hoang Mai Town), he said that after receiving the telegram from the Provincial People's Committee, authorities at all levels coordinated with the border guard station to call on fishermen to bring their boats home to take shelter from the storm.

Currently, the ward has more than 600 large and small boats, including more than 200 large-capacity offshore fishing boats, 100% of which have returned to ports and channels to take shelter from the storm, including some boats temporarily taking shelter in neighboring provinces such as Quang Binh and Ha Tinh.
In Quynh Lap commune, Mr. Phan Van Hai, Chairman of Quynh Lap Commune Fisheries Association, said that by noon today, 100% of fishing boats had docked at Quynh Lap fishing port to avoid the storm, including some offshore fishing boats that had entered Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, and Da Nang provinces to avoid the storm.

Dien Chau: From the afternoon of August 1, no boats will go out to sea.

Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district said: since the afternoon of July 31, after receiving an urgent telegram from the Provincial People's Committee on dealing with storm No. 3, the District People's Committee has sent notices to coastal localities, propagandizing and mobilizing fishermen to urgently bring their boats to anchor to avoid the storm safely.
Accordingly, Dien Chau district has 1,447 boats, including 280 boats with a capacity of over 90 CV, fishing offshore. Through information gathering, on the morning of August 1, all boats with a capacity of over 90 CV of Dien Chau docked, including some boats anchored at some fishing ports outside the province.

However, as of 12 noon on August 1, there were still 205 nearshore fishing boats that had not returned to port, and were expected to arrive at 2 p.m., because of the nature of Dien Chau fishermen, they set sail from 11 p.m. the previous day until 2 p.m. the next day to end their fishing trip.
According to the Department of Fisheries, Nghe An currently has 3,510 boats. As of 2:00 p.m. on August 1, 100% of boats from Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu district, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, and Cua Lo town had made contact and returned to port safely. Only a few large-capacity boats from Hoang Mai, Dien Chau, and Quynh Luu towns were anchored at fishing ports outside the province. Currently, no boats have lost contact.
