Nghe An: 73 communes declared free of African swine fever

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, as of July 28, 73 communes (of 17 districts, cities and towns) in the province have announced the end of African swine fever (of which 6 communes have had a recurrence of the epidemic within 30 days); 3 districts and towns have not had the epidemic: Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa town and Cua Lo town.

Currently, there are 83 communes in 12 districts, towns and cities that have not passed 30 days of the epidemic: Quynh Luu (11 communes), Hoang Mai Town (2 wards), Do Luong (8 communes), Nghi Loc (2 communes), Dien Chau (8 communes), Hung Nguyen (2 communes), Ky Son (12 communes), Yen Thanh (23 communes), Vinh City (2 wards, communes), Con Cuong (1 commune), Tuong Duong (5 communes), Que Phong (7 communes).

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: In July, African swine fever tended to slow down in the number of communes, hamlets and households infected with the disease. However, the disease broke out again in a number of "hot spots": Nhan Thanh, Dong Thanh (Yen Thanh); Quynh Thanh, Quynh Bang (Quynh Luu); Tri Le, Cam Muon (Que Phong)...

African swine fever broke out in Nghe An province on March 12, 2019. After more than 4 months, the epidemic has spread to 156 communes of 18 districts, towns and cities. The number of households with pigs infected with the epidemic is 2,127, the total number of pigs destroyed is 8,970, with a total weight of over 415 tons.
