Nghe An discusses solutions to promote improvement of investment and business environment

At the workshop, experts from VCCI gave lectures and discussions on the assessment of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) nationwide and the preliminary assessment results in localities in 2020 in particular.

Based on the experience and methods of other localities, Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of Nghe An Department of Science and Technology said: Nghe An started doing DDCI in 2017 and came later, so it has the advantage of inheriting the experience of the provinces that did it first. Currently, the index set is in the process of testing and editing before being officially issued.

Although still in the testing phase, survey results from 2018 to present show that basically Nghe An's DDCI component indexes such as informal expenditure, low land access... are quite similar to the PCI index assessed and announced annually by VCCI.

At the workshop, representatives of Nghe An business associations raised some difficulties in the resolution process.administrative procedures, investing in Nghe An. To create a real change in improving the business environment, delegates said that the provincial administrative apparatus must truly accompany businesses; when taking samples for surveys and explorations, they must be truly receptive and listen to businesses so that the assessment results will be substantive. Leaders and heads of government committees from the province to departments, districts and communes must consider the assessment results, whether good or limited, as their own lessons; after the assessment and publication of the index, there must be solutions to direct the overcoming of limitations and shortcomings...

On behalf of the provincial leaders, representatives of the Nghe An Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center respectfully received the opinions of experts and suggestions from businesses and will advise the province to soon complete the DDCI assessment index set for official application, contributing to promoting and improving the investment environment./.
