Nghe An: In harvest season, traders come to the fields to order squash

Unlike previous years when output was somewhat difficult, this year, to ensure the supply of goods, traders from many places have come to the fields to deposit large quantities, so farmers are very excited.
Ms. Dang Thi Mai, Binh Nghia hamlet, Nghia Binh commune, Nghia Dan, grows 14 sao of green squash. Up to now, her family has harvested 4 tons of fruit, selling it for 10,000 VND/kg. Ms. Mai shared: With this selling price, farmers like us are very excited, hoping that the price will continue to be stable. This year, the output of squash is also favorable, when preparing to harvest, people have come to ask to buy. When harvesting, cars come to pick it up, so we do not have to spend time transporting it.

Although the weather is unfavorable, squash plants are susceptible to many pests and diseases, but thanks to many years of experience growing squash of Nghia Dan farmers, the yield of green squash and pumpkin in the district still reaches 20 - 25 tons/ha. This year, squash has a good harvest and good price, so farmers are very excited. Specifically, the price of green squash in the garden is 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg, the price of pumpkin is 4,000 - 5,000 VND/kg. After deducting costs, each hectare also gives farmers an income of 100 - 150 million VND.

Mr. Quyet, Minh Son hamlet, Nghia Minh commune said: The family has started harvesting pumpkins for sale, traders divide them into two types: young pumpkins and old pumpkins to buy. Pumpkins can be kept for a long time, so there is no need to worry about the fruit spoiling. The productivity and price at this time are favorable for farmers.
Mr. Truc, a pumpkin trader in Quynh Luu district, said: "During pumpkin season, we often go to Nghia Dan to buy. To buy enough pumpkins, we have to go to the pumpkin fields and meet the garden owners to negotiate a purchase. To be sure, we often deposit a small amount of money in advance."
