Nghe An: Localities inspect response work to storm Noru

(Baonghean.vn) - Faced with the complicated and dangerous developments of storm No. 4 (international name Noru), on September 27, a number of localities also conducted inspections of response work to the storm.

* In Quynh Luu district, the working delegation of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Mr. Tran Xuan Hoc - Deputy Director of the Department came to inspect the response to storm No. 4. Accompanying were leaders of Quynh Luu district and the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The delegation inspected storm response work at some key locations such as Lach Quen Port (Quynh Thuan commune), vegetable growing areas in Bai Ngang commune, freshwater fish farming areas (Quynh Hoa and Quynh Lam communes)...

According to the report, Quynh Luu currently has 750 offshore fishing vessels. As of 10:00 a.m. on September 27, 727 vessels had safely anchored at the shore and 7 vessels were operating at sea. Of these, 2 vessels were operating in the coastal waters of Nghe An province and 5 vessels were operating in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Regarding production, due to the influence of the monsoon, from September 24 to 26, heavy rains occurred in Quynh Luu district, causing about 600 hectares of vegetables that were being planted and cared for by farmers to be flooded and damaged, most seriously in the communes in the coastal areas. In addition, the whole district also had more than 50 hectares of aquaculture affected.

During the inspection, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized: Storm No. 4 is considered the strongest storm in the past 20 years and is approaching the mainland of the Central region. Although Nghe An is not the center of the storm, the locality absolutely must not be negligent or subjective, but must proactively deploy plans and strategies; focus on mobilizing maximum forces and means to be ready for all situations.

The relevant agencies need to coordinate with the Border Guard to inform the development of storm Noru, call on the owners of fishing vessels, seafood, and vessels operating at sea to urgently come ashore, move to avoid the storm; check, review, and anchor vessels in safe locations. Request aquaculture households to take measures to protect cages and go ashore to take shelter before the storm makes landfall. Focus on doing a good job of monitoring the situation, promptly detecting areas and localities at risk of flooding due to rising sea levels to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities on plans to evacuate people to avoid the storm and have response plans.

* Same day,in Do Luong district,Comrades: Hoang Van Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee and Tran Van Hien - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, together with officers of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the District Project Management Board urgently inspected the dam works before storm Noru.

The New Dam in Hamlet 1, Dai Son Commune, irrigates 30-50 hectares of agricultural land in the commune. Upon inspection, it was found that there was a landslide at the dam body, with the risk of breaking and damaging the drainage system, affecting 200 households here.

At Duong Pam bridge in hamlet 8, Dai Son commune, there has also been subsidence and landslides at the foot of the bridge. If there is heavy rain, it could be dangerous and affect 200 households here.

The delegation also visited Chua Dam in Hamlet 8, Tru Son Commune to check the landslide situation at the dam bank. Currently, the dam body has eroded dozens of cubic meters of soil, affecting irrigation of over 30 hectares of agricultural land.

To ensure the safety of people and property, and minimize damage caused by storm Noru, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Do Luong district requested the People's Committees of communes to regularly update and closely monitor the developments of storm Noru, proactively respond to and prevent heavy rain and strong gusts of wind that may occur in the coming days. Pay attention to checking and reviewing key areas, riverside areas, lakes, dams, low-lying areas, high risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides to proactively organize the evacuation of people when situations arise./.
