'Nghe An needs to grasp tourism trends after Covid-19 social distancing to make appropriate changes'

(Baonghean.vn) - That is the "advice" of Mr. Tran Trong Kien - Chairman of the National Tourism Advisory Council, member of the Private Economic Development Research Board of the Prime Minister's Administrative Procedure Reform Advisory Council at the Scientific Workshop to discuss solutions to promote domestic tourism and restore international tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic in Nghe An province.

According to Mr. Kien, since mid-April, when social distancing has been eased, Vietnam has seen a recovery in tourism demand. People are ready to travel. Research by the Tourism Advisory Board: 53% of people surveyed are ready to travel this summer. The number of people who have no plans to travel has gradually decreased. 69% of people surveyed choose safe and secure travel destinations. Nearly 20% of people surveyed choose services with incentives. After social distancing, the demand for beach tourism is the highest with 67% of people surveyed, followed by nature tourism at 56%.

Covid-19 has had a strong impact on spending, so 50% of people surveyed who have a need to travel choose short tours (2-3 days); nearly 89% choose to go with family and friends; 77% choose to relax and more than 50% choose to explore cuisine; 5% choose to travel by plane; the trend of customers booking tours themselves is 62% and booking through online platforms is 44%.

This information shows that: Post-Covid-19 tourist trends have become more diverse with the need to explore and learn about new lands and beautiful check-in spots. However, social distancing still affects tourists.

For tourism to recover and develop, Nghe An needs to ensure a safe tourism environment for tourists and pay attention to their health. Because tours, nature, and cuisine are of interest, Nghe An also needs to build tourism products that are suitable for the environment.

As tightening spending is a common concern of the people, travel companies in Nghe An need to build tour packages with reasonable prices, short itineraries, paying attention to individual, family and small group tours. Travel companies need to link up to increase tour value, reduce prices and offer incentives according to the itinerary, not creating price wars. Encourage small companies to participate in the value-added chain of large enterprises or act as agents selling tourism products to large enterprises.

The province needs to communicate and market in a way that considers this an “opportunity to bring benefits” to Vietnamese tourists; change the promotion method, use social networking platforms and strongly invite the tourism community to visit Nghe An as an “attractive, different but friendly” tourist destination./.
