Accordingly, on the afternoon of April 24, Mr. Hien took the buffalo to Giang River to bathe and discovered 3 young men drowning in the middle of the river, so he jumped into the river to save them.

Mr. Hien said, when I took the buffalo to the river, I saw 3 young men bathing there. I reminded them not to bathe there because they could easily drown. Just over 10 minutes later, the incident happened.

"When I discovered three children drowning, I immediately rushed into the river to save them. After bringing two of them to shore, the remaining child had drifted about 25 meters.

When I returned and brought the third child to shore, he was unconscious, so I had to perform CPR. He regained consciousness a few minutes later. Luckily, all three children were safe.

Talking about his actions, Mr. Hien shared: At that time, I only thought about how to save people. When I saved the 3 children, I was honestly tired.

This morning, Mr. Le Van Hien (24 years old), residing in Yen Hoa hamlet, Thanh Hoa commune - one of the 3 victims saved by Mr. Hien, shared: Yesterday afternoon, a group of 3 of us went to the Giang river near Thanh Hoa pumping station to bathe. While bathing, Le Van Tuan (23 years old), residing in Nghia Dan district, drowned first. Me and Nguyen Quang Dat, 17 years old, both know how to swim, so we saved Tuan. After that, I lost strength and Dat was swept away by the current. Luckily, at that time, Mr. Hien, who was upstream, came to save us. Mr. Hien swam out to the middle of the stream to save Dat. Dat and Tuan drank a lot of water. When Dat was brought to shore, Dat fainted, and Mr. Hien had to perform CPR on him to wake him up. After that, we took Dat home. This morning, Dat went to school.

Mr. Tran Khac Kien - Secretary of Thanh Hoa Commune Party Committee said: "Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien's action of saving 3 young men who were drowning in the middle of the river was timely and brave."

Also this morning, Thanh Chuong District also presented a Certificate of Merit and a reward of 2 million VND to Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien.
