(Baonghean.vn) - In 2020, Nghe An has 101 typical products from 16 districts, towns and cities in the province participating in the competition to evaluate and classify provincial-level OCOP products.

The goal of this program is that by the end of 2020, Nghe An will standardize at least 50% of existing products, corresponding to 90 products.

Through this assessment and ranking, we aim to encourage economic organizations (enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, production and business households) participating in the OCOP Program to innovate, create, upgrade and perfect products to ensure compliance with the regulations according to the set of criteria for evaluating and ranking OCOP products stipulated in Decision 1048/QD-TTg dated August 21, 2019 of the Prime Minister, thereby gradually standardizing and improving product quality to ensure compliance with domestic and international standards.

From November 9 to 14, 2020, the Provincial OCOP Product Classification and Evaluation Council organized a product classification and evaluation with the participation of nearly 110 typical products from 16 districts, cities and towns in the province participating in the 2020 OCOP product classification and evaluation contest, except for 4 districts (Hung Nguyen, Quy Hop, Que Phong, Nghi Loc) that did not have any participating products.

In general, the products participating in this ranking competition are rich and diverse in types; The quality of goods, designs, and packaging have been significantly improved compared to 2019, especially with the participation of community tourism villages (Homestay) with products associated with the preservation of traditional products of local strengths such as ginger, Tuyet Shan Ky Son tea; Tuong Duong beef; Thanh Chuong pickled cucumbers and grapefruit; Quynh Luu seafood; Dien Chau peanuts...

As a result, in terms of quantity, the number of products participating in the 2020 competition is twice that of 2019 (110/61 products). According to preliminary assessment, in 2020, the rate of products achieved is lower than in 2019 (in 2019, there were 61 products participating in the competition with 3-star rating, 48, reaching 78.6%; in 2020, there were 110/65 products with the potential to achieve 3-star rating or higher, reaching 59%).

However, according to Mr. Le Van Luong - Head of Nghe An Department of Rural Development, there are still some shortcomings in the awarding process such as: Some product files lack some mandatory procedures such as product idea registration form, product registration, business plan, business registration certificate, and sample products.

In addition, some products lack supporting documents, there is no consistency between the product name and the uses stated on the packaging, the labels are not consistent, and there are even violations, lack of product quality control, environmental control, product quality declaration, periodic inspection of food safety indicators, organization of management and operation apparatus, QR code, and traceability.

In addition, some products still lack brand protection, the product story has not been documented on labels, leaflets on the website, has not mentioned the local identity, the story structure is still simple and incomplete... so the number of products with high stars is very small and will be announced in the near future.
