Nghe An has 82% of families achieving the title of 'Cultural Family'

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 28, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An organized the 15th Anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28, 2001 - June 28, 2016), launching the National Action Month on preventing and combating domestic violence.

Also attending were comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of a number of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Since 2001, the Government has issued Decision 72/2001/QD-TTg choosing June 28 every year as Vietnamese Family Day. This is a holiday to honor the Vietnamese family, reminding all members of the Vietnamese family to turn to their roots, to their relatives, and to cherish and respect their family. At the same time, it promotes the responsibility of leaders of all sectors, levels, unions and social organizations to pay attention to building a prosperous, equal, progressive and happy family.

In Nghe An, after 15 years, family work has achieved important achievements in socio-economic development, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of every family. Currently, the whole province has 626,420 families achieving the title of "Cultural Family", reaching 82%; there are 3,642 cultural residential areas reaching 61.8%; 100% of districts, cities and towns have established family work steering committees.

Comrade Hoang Thi Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to outstanding collectives in family work.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Minh Thong hoped that the celebration of Vietnamese Family Day would require that in the coming time, relevant departments and sectors should step up propaganda and communication work to raise awareness of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, sectors, organizations and the community about the importance, position and role of family and family building. Continue to effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction, improve family living standards and create conditions for families to care for and educate children and the elderly, and stabilize their lives.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee launched the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee awarded 4 groups and individuals in family work, and awarded units that won prizes in the Happy Family Club Competition.
