(Baonghean.vn) – Over the past year, the Provincial Farmers' Association has built 266 collective economic models in the direction of concentrated cultivation and over 125,000 farming households have achieved the title of good production and business households at all levels.
That was the outstanding result given at the Conference to summarize the work of the Farmers' Association in 2016 and deploy tasks in 2017, which took place on the morning of December 27.
Attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors and leaders of associations of districts and towns in the province.
The report at the conference showed that, despite the impact of harsh weather last year, Farmers' Associations at all levels mobilized members to make efforts to overcome difficulties, thanks to which production in 2016 was basically a comprehensive bumper crop.
Specifically, the total food output is over 1.2 million tons (the year with the highest productivity and output of rice and corn ever). The total herd of buffalo and cows is estimated at 737 thousand heads, the herd of pigs is estimated at over 62 thousand heads, the herd of poultry is estimated at over 19 thousand heads; the total output of aquatic products is estimated at over 166 thousand tons...

During the year, the association at all levels admitted over 11,300 members, bringing the total number of members to over 520,000. Over 125,000 farming households achieved the title of excellent production and business households at all levels.
The association levels have provided loans to people worth over 800 billion VND, with nearly 12,000 members receiving loans; 266 collective economic models have been built in the direction of concentrated cultivation and chain linkage. There have been many models that have brought high economic efficiency such as: Goat farming in Nghia Dan, off-season vegetable growing in Vinh City, growing wood ear mushrooms in Thai Son (Do Luong) ...
In addition, the association also actively mobilized good farming and business households, supported and helped with seeds, capital, and job techniques for 163 poor farming households with a value of over 2.1 billion VND.

Farmers' Associations at all levels focus on promoting service activities to support farmers such as: Capital services, fertilizers, agricultural materials, building effective economic development models; promoting vocational training, transferring scientific and technological advances. In addition, farmers also contributed over 340 billion VND and hundreds of thousands of working days to build new rural areas.
Besides the achieved results, the activities of Farmers' Associations at all levels still have some shortcomings: Some agricultural policies and mechanisms have not reached farmers; fertilizer support services for farmers have not been drastic enough, so the results have not been high; the grasp of some new issues arising in rural areas is still slow; the replication of effective models is not much, and has not become a movement in rural areas...

Speaking at the conference, comrade Dinh Viet Hong highly appreciated and commended the achievements of the Provincial Farmers' Association in the past year. In order for the Association's work and the provincial farmers' movement to continue to develop and go into depth, the Vice Chairman suggested that the Provincial Farmers' Association should: Focus on doing better propaganda work for cadres and members on the Party and State's policies and guidelines, the province's development policies and mechanisms; pay attention to solving pressing problems among farmers; focus on building the organization and improving the quality of the association's cadres in the new situation.
Farmers' associations at all levels need to diversify their activities and focus on mobilizing members to participate in the movement of good production and business. Associations at all levels need to play a good role in supporting capital, transferring science and technology, linking to create output for products; mobilizing farmers to produce cleanly and ensure food safety. He also hopes that associations at all levels need to mobilize people to make efforts and agree to implement well the national target program on building new rural areas.
