Nghe An aims to develop 144 urban areas of all kinds by 2020.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the planning orientation of the provincial urban system by 2020, Nghe An will have 144 urban areas of all types, including 1 city, 6 towns, 17 district towns, 21 regional towns and 99 market towns.

Mr. Hoang Trong Kim - Director of Nghe An Department of Construction said that up to now, the general planning of urban areas in the whole province has been approved for 118/144 urban areas, reaching 82% and localities are continuing to plan the remaining urban areas.
In particular, Vinh City has been approved by the Prime Minister to adjust the master plan until 2020, with a vision to 2050 in Decision No. 52/QD-TTg dated January 14, 2015.
Vinh City is identified as the political, economic, socio-cultural center and communication hub of Nghe An province. It is the growth engine and solves important tasks of economic development of Nghe An province and the North Central region.
Vinh City is a class I urban area, the center of the North Central region in the fields of: Finance, trade, tourism, science - technology, information technology, high-tech industry, health, culture, sports, education - training. It has an important position in terms of security - defense, a national and international traffic hub.
The Provincial People's Committee has approved the general planning of Cua Lo town as a type III urban area and is striving to become a type II urban area; approved the general planning of Hoang Mai town as a type IV urban area, playing the role of a key economic center in the North of the province, a driving force of the Nam Thanh - Bac Nghe region, gradually building and developing into a type III urban area; approved the general planning of Thai Hoa town as a type IV urban area, playing the role of a center of the Northwest Nghe An region, gradually building and developing into a type III urban area.
Currently, Con Cong district is organizing the planning of Con Cuong urban area towards becoming an ecological urban area, to establish a town in the entire district according to type IV urban standards.
Nghe An is the largest province in the country with 21 administrative units, including 1 city, 3 towns and 17 district towns;… “Vinh City has basically met all the conditions and factors to be the central urban area of the North Central region and the provincial capital of Nghe An” - Director of the Department of Construction Hoang Trong Kim assessed and added that the province has a fully classified urban system from type I to type V.
