In early April, Vinh City residents experienced the first heat wave with temperatures reaching nearly 35 degrees Celsius. Many families worried that the heat would last this year, so they chose to buy heat-resistant products right from the beginning of summer to avoid price increases when the heat peaked in the middle of the season.

In Vinh City, electronics and refrigeration stores have sold many heat-resistant products such as: Air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, mist fans, steam fans... of famous brands.

Shop owners said that this year is forecast to be hot, so the number of imported cooling products has increased by 30-50% compared to last year. Mr. Trinh Chi Hieu - owner of Bang Linh electronics and refrigeration store - Quang Trung street, Vinh city said: In 2015, the store sold 200 air conditioners, this year it imported 300 sets to serve customers.

Air conditioners with air-cleaning features, especially energy-saving ones, are more popular with customers than traditional products due to rising electricity prices. Anticipating this trend, supermarkets and electronics stores in Vinh City have prioritized displaying air conditioners with energy-saving technology.

To attract customers, many stores also have promotions for each product.

The prices of air conditioners are also quite diverse, ranging from 6,000,000 VND - 13,000,000 VND/unit depending on the brand. Panasonic air conditioner KC9000 BTU costs 7,800,000 VND; KC 12000 BTU costs 9,800,000 VND. For the same Panasonic brand Inverter energy-saving line, 9000 BTU costs 9,800,000 VND; 12000 BTU costs 11,800,000 VND.

Although the price is higher than conventional air conditioners, due to its power saving feature, the product line using 1-way inverter is still the choice of many customers.

Besides air conditioners, electric fans, mist fans, and steam fans are sold in many stores, with prices ranging from 1,300,000 VND - 1,900,000 VND/unit. Currently on the market, steam fans with brands such as Fujiyama, Sanaky, Tifa, Gena, Comet... imported from Malaysia, China or Taiwan, Kangaroo mist fans made in Vietnam have prices ranging from 2,000,000 - 2,500,000 VND/unit.

Steam fans have been on sale quite a lot since the beginning of the hot season.

In addition, the most popular and best-selling fan type in electronics stores and supermarkets is the electric fan. The most popular products currently are imported from Malaysia and Japan, priced from 360,000 VND - 500,000 VND/box fan; 1,400,000 - 1,800,000 VND/kneeling fan, 300,000 - 600,000 VND/piece; tower fan from 700,000 - 1,200,000 VND/piece; table fan 200,000 - 350,000 VND/piece...

Misting machines are also sought after by elderly customers right from the beginning of the hot season.

To meet customer demand, electronics stores and refrigeration supermarkets are releasing new products and offering many discount promotions.
