(Baonghean.vn) - Diabetes has been increasing rapidly in every country in the world.

On the morning of November 13, in Vinh City, the Central Endocrinology Hospital coordinated with the Nghe An Department of Health to organize a rally to respond to World Diabetes Day on November 14. Attending were comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health.

Diabetes is on the rise in every country in the world. The causes of diabetes are complex, but are largely due to being overweight, obese and physically inactive.

According to the International Diabetes Federation, in 2017 there were 425 million adults with diabetes worldwide and this is expected to increase to 629 million by 2045.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization predicts that diabetes will become the 7th leading cause of death by 2030. Diabetes is also the leading cause of blindness, amputation and kidney damage.

In Vietnam, the rate of diabetes in adults is 5.42%. In Nghe An, according to a survey by Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital, in 2010 the rate of diabetes in the whole province was 5.36% and increased to 7.13%.

At the ceremony this morning, the Organizing Committee provided free diabetes screening and consultation to the people. In addition, after the launching ceremony, the delegates attended the parade in response to World Diabetes Day.
