Nghe An: Urgent call for ships at sea to return to shore to avoid low pressure

Quynh Luu is a district with a large number of boats with nearly 1,200, including more than 700 offshore fishing boats. After receiving a telegram from the Provincial People's Committee calling on boats operating at sea to come ashore to anchor to avoid the tropical depression, the Quynh Luu District People's Committee coordinated with the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to call on boats to come ashore.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district, as of the morning of August 1, 2020, most of the fishermen's boats have returned to shore for safe shelter; some of them are anchored in Quang Binh and Quang Tri. Currently, the authorities and local governments are calling on boat owners to urgently move ashore to avoid the storm.

Mr. Nguyen Van Uoc - Chairman of Tien Thuy Commune People's Committee (Quynh Luu) said that the whole commune has more than 300 fishing boats anchored at Lach Quen port after receiving a telegram to deal with the tropical depression. When the boats returned to shore, the locality coordinated with Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to propagate and remind boat owners to anchor their boats at a distance, and at the same time use obstacles hung on the sides of the boats to avoid collisions and damage to the boats.
In Hoang Mai town, nearly 1,000 fishing boats have returned to safe anchorage to avoid the low pressure. According to fishermen, the return to shore to avoid the tropical low pressure coincided with the time when people returned to rest for the full moon, so most of the boats returned to shore on July 31 and August 1.

In Dien Chau district, there are 1,447 boats, of which 280 have a capacity of over 90 CV. Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: As of 9:00 a.m. on August 1, Dien Chau still had 102 boats on the way back to the mainland, and no boat had lost contact.
According to the district's direction, 100% of boats must take shelter from the storm before 12:00 on August 1. Most of Dien Chau's boats anchored to take shelter from the storm on the Bung River, only 3 boats over 800 CV, could not enter Lach Van estuary, so they took shelter in Lach Lo.
According to the Department of Fisheries, Nghe An currently has 3,447 fishing boats at sea. By 9:00 a.m. on August 1, nearly 2,500 boats had anchored at storm shelters. The remaining boats are on their way back to the mainland, and no boats have lost contact.
Currently, the Coastal Station (Department of Fisheries) is constantly on duty, notifying the direction of the tropical depression, and at the same time instructing and calling on ships moving at sea to urgently return to shore as soon as possible to avoid damage caused by the tropical depression in the East Sea./.
