Nghe An: Urgent vaccination of tens of thousands of poultry against H5N6 flu
(Baonghean.vn) - Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) is urgently organizing vaccination against H5N6 avian influenza on all poultry and waterfowl at the outbreak in Quynh Hong commune.

After the H5N6 avian influenza outbreak occurred in Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu) on February 6, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine provided 20,000 doses of vaccine to the locality to vaccinate poultry and waterfowl.
On February 10, the Quynh Hong commune government organized a vaccination team of 5 people to vaccinate against H5N6 avian influenza in the commune.

Mr. Ho Huu Tung - Vice Chairman of Quynh Hong Commune People's Committee said that the commune will first organize prevention in the epidemic area, then vaccinate all the threatening hamlets in the commune. Statistics show that in the epidemic area of Hong Phu hamlet, there are currently nearly 9,000 poultry and waterfowl, but the whole commune has about 28,000 poultry and waterfowl.

On February 10, the vaccination team vaccinated over 2,000 ducks, geese, and chickens. Quynh Hong's plan is to complete vaccinations for 5 consecutive days.
Mr. Tran Dinh Tan in Hong Phu hamlet said: His family has 600 ducks and 100 geese. Before raising them, the family had vaccinated them against the disease, but when an outbreak of H5N6 avian influenza occurred right in the hamlet, the family asked the commune to vaccinate early and spray disinfectants in the barn area.

Mr. Tran Minh Quan - Acting Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Quynh Luu district added: On February 9, the veterinary agency took samples of sick poultry at two households in Quynh Hau and Quynh Ba communes to send the samples for testing for H5N6 avian influenza, currently awaiting results.
