Nghe An: Spring rice yield in some places reaches over 85 quintals/ha

Old farmer Ngo Sy Tam in hamlet 2, Bac Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) happily said: This spring crop, his family planted 4 hectares of rice, including hybrid rice varieties and new glutinous rice varieties. On May 9, the family started renting a combine harvester to harvest the rice, showing that the new glutinous rice variety has the highest yield, over 76 quintals/sao. For ordinary rice, the yield is no less than 74 quintals/ha.

Farmers in Bac Thanh commune added that in general, this year's spring rice crop has high yields, large, even flowers, and few empty grains. Unlike previous crops, this spring crop, the price of harvester service has been reduced to 120,000 VND/sao.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: This spring crop, Yen Thanh planted 12,850 hectares of rice. Through survey and evaluation, the average yield reached 71.5 quintals/ha. In particular, there are rice varieties Nhi Uu 986, Thai Xuyen 111... and sticky rice G97 planted in Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh, Xuan Thanh, Long Thanh, Bac Thanh... with a yield of 76 - 78 quintals/ha.

Dien Chau district planted 9,250 hectares this spring crop. According to Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, according to the assessment of provincial-level professional agencies, Dien Chau's rice yield this spring crop reached an average of 72.3 quintals/ha, higher than the previous crop. Some hybrid rice varieties have very high yields, from 85 - 86 quintals/ha, and are planted in the communes of Dien Nguyen, Dien Doai, and Dien Phu.

According to Mr. Le The Hieu, the reason why Dien Chau's spring rice crop has a high average yield is because the district has structured 70% of the area to be hybrid rice: VT 505, VT 404, Thai Xuyen 111...

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said: In general, the 2020 spring crop yielded an average of 67 quintals/ha, which is higher than the previous spring crop (66.47 quintals/ha). Districts with high rice yields include Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Nghia Dan, Anh Son... In particular, some fields in Dien Chau and Yen Thanh yielded 84 - 86 quintals/ha.

By May 11, farmers had harvested 30% of the total area of ​​more than 92,000 hectares. Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc recommended that farmers take advantage of the sunny weather to actively speed up the rice harvest to finish before the small flood season on April 20 to avoid rain and floods, which are detrimental to rice preservation.
