(Baonghean.vn) - Using the excuse of needing money to invest in business, Mr. Thai Chinh and his wife in Dien Chau district borrowed money from many people but then closed their house and fled.

According to information from Dien Hoa Commune Police, from January 17 to February 14, the commune police received 9 reports from people inside and outside the commune denouncing the fraudulent appropriation of money by Mr. Thai Chinh (born in 1979) and his wife Tran Thi Trang (residing in Hamlet 5, Dien Hoa Commune, Dien Chau District).

According to the complaint, Mr. Thai Chinh and his wife borrowed money from the victims but did not pay it back on time. When the creditors came to collect the money, they discovered that Mr. Chinh and his wife had been on the run for nearly a month and were currently uncontactable.

The amount of money that the victims accused Mr. Thai Chinh and his wife of borrowing was nearly 4.5 billion VND, in which there were cases where they lent up to nearly 1.5 billion VND.

According to the leaders of Dien Hoa commune, under the pretext of borrowing money, paying high interest, and being fair to invest in business such as buying wood, expanding mechanical workshops, opening pawn shops, etc., Mr. Chinh and his wife borrowed money from many people.

Many people even mortgaged their land titles worth hundreds of millions of dong at the commune credit fund to borrow money for Mr. Chinh and his wife. The amount of money Mr. Chinh and his wife borrowed could be more than 4.5 billion dong because many victims have not yet come forward to report.

A resident of Dien Hoa commune said that recently, he saw Mr. Chinh's family change unexpectedly. They only work as a small mechanic but bought 2 cars. They spend a lot of money but don't know where the money comes from. Now they are hiding from debt.

Currently, Mr. Thai Chinh and his wife are not in the locality, no one knows where they are. The house of Mr. Chinh and his wife is currently being protected by the Dien Hoa commune government, preventing creditors from demolishing it and disturbing public order. The incident has been reported by the Dien Hoa commune police to the Dien Chau district police for investigation.
