Nghe An releases a rare turtle species listed in Vietnam's Red Book into the sea

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 1, the functional departments of Dien Chau district organized the release of a sea turtle of the green turtle family - a rare marine animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book, on the list of endangered wild animals and plants that need to be protected.

Previously, at 3:00 p.m. on April 1, while fishing at sea, fisherman Tran Van Bay in hamlet 10, Dien Trung commune discovered a sea turtle weighing nearly 10kg caught in the net.

The turtle was still healthy and was believed to be swimming ashore to lay eggs. After bringing it ashore, fisherman Tran Van Bay informed the local authorities, Lach Van Border Control Station and the Dien Chau District Department of Agriculture.

After receiving the sea turtle from the fishermen, Lach Van Border Control Station coordinated with the Department of Agriculture of Dien Chau district to release it back into the wild, at the Lach Van estuary./.
