Nghe An busts 5 billion-dollar betting dens during World Cup season

After synchronously deploying professional measures, after 10 days of the World Cup season starting, the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) has continuously dismantled special cases related to football betting.

On June 18, successfully discovered Project 618B, eliminated 2 gangs, arrested and handled 13 subjects, initially proving that the amount of money the subjects used for football betting was more than 300 million VND. The first gang was led by Cao Thanh Binh, born in 1977, residing in Dien Chau district. The second gang was led by Nguyen Hai Thanh, born in 1989, residing in block 14, Quang Trung ward, Vinh city. The two subjects specialized in organizing football betting for gamblers.

On the same day, June 19, the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) successfully broke up 2 cases, eliminated 2 gangs, arrested and handled 16 participants, initially proving that the amount of money the subjects used for football betting was more than 700 million VND. The ringleaders include Tran Duc Trung, born in 1991, residing in Ben Thuy ward, Vinh city and Nguyen Van Dat, born in 1987, residing in Huong Phuc ward, Vinh city.

Continuing on June 26, the Task Force caught red-handed a gambling den in the form of football betting in Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc district, arrested and handled 4 participants, initially proving that the amount of money transacted since the beginning of the season up to now is up to more than 700 million VND. The leader of this den is Hoang Anh Duy, born in 1989, residing in Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc district.

Currently, the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) is continuing to expand the investigation and complete procedures to handle the subjects according to the provisions of law.
