Nghe An recruited 64 athletes from the basic amateur gifted class.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 11, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An held a conference to review the system of amateur sports classes in 2018; Deploy the plan and tasks for 2019.
Participated in 55 domestic and international competitions
2018 is the third year that the system of amateur sports classes at the grassroots level has been reorganized by Nghe An after 5 years of interruption and many difficulties. However, through the system of amateur sports classes at the grassroots level and the satellite system, in 2018, 64 athletes were selected for 19 sports of the province, not including football.

By the end of 2018, the number of athletes training at the Center included 70 provincial athletes, 68 youth athletes, 161 talented athletes and 79 athletes of all levels. Of the total number of selected athletes, the Traditional Sports - Boxing Department had 12 more athletes, and the Athletics Department selected 10 athletes, all of whom were very young.
In 2018, a number of athletes provided by the gifted sports classes soon revealed their talents and prospects for professional development, such as: Athlete Truong Van Phuc (Traditional martial arts - Bronze medal in Kickboxing championship, Bronze medal in National Sports Festival); Athlete Duong Xuan Trong (Boxing - Gold medal in Youth championship...); Athlete Tran Thi Lan Taekwondo joined the national youth team.
Accordingly, in 2018, Nghe An sports participated in 55 domestic and international tournaments, winning 307 medals of all kinds, including 55 gold medals, 92 silver medals, and 160 bronze medals. At the 8th National Sports Festival, Nghe An delegation won 8 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 21 bronze medals, ranking 19th out of 65 participating delegations.
In total, the sport that won the most medals was Taekwondo with 7 gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze medals (43 in total). Wrestling had 4 gold, 9 silver and 23 bronze medals, chess had 9 gold, 8 silver and 14 bronze medals. Also notable in terms of the number of gold medals won were weightlifting and sepak takraw with 6 gold medals and karate with 5 gold medals.

Expanded deployment in 16 districts and cities
In addition to the achievements, at the summary conference, there were many opinions to discuss solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing the current system of grassroots amateur sports talent classes.
In particular, the issue of paying attention to adding more facilities, training equipment and supporting policies, training for coaches and athletes to improve the efficiency and quality of training is put on top. Because in general, the achievements that have been achieved are mostly only domestic achievements, the number of athletes competing internationally and achieving achievements is still limited.
Also at this summary conference, the Department of Culture and Sports awarded certificates of merit to three collectives of Quy Hop, Dien Chau, Hung Nguyen Culture and Sports Centers and coaches Tran Van Bien - Vovinam (Hung Nguyen), Truong Sy Dao - Sepak Takraw (Dien Chau), Ho Sy Hieu - Wushu (Yen Thanh) for their many achievements in coordinating the organization of amateur sports talent classes in 2018.

In 2019, according to the plan, the system of amateur sports talent classes at the grassroots level will continue to be expanded in 16 districts and cities with 24 football classes and 27 other sports classes of 15 subjects. In 2019, strive for 100% of coaches at the grassroots level to be trained to improve their knowledge in searching and training talented athletes. At the same time, promote propaganda and evaluate the activities of talent classes.
Regarding the achievements in 2018, the Taekwondo department had athlete Dang Khanh Nghi winning 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal domestically, athlete Nguyen Thi Kim Anh winning 2 gold medals domestically, and athlete Pham Thi Quynh Trang winning gold medals at the International Taekwondo Club Championship. The Silat department had 2 outstanding athletes, Pham Thi Huyen and Vo Thi Hang, both winning gold medals at the National Sports Festival. The Sepak Takraw discipline had athletes such as Nguyen Quoc Anh (Nam), Nguyen Thi My, and Nguyen Thi Quyen in the national team participating in the 18th Asiad.
