Suspect in poisoning Vietnamese businesswoman in China arrested
Chinese authorities have arrested a suspect in the poisoning of businesswoman Ha Linh, suspect at least one other person, and this week repatriated the victim's body.
Chinese police in coordination with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security have just arrested the suspect who poisoned Ms. Ha Thuy Linh (45 years old, director of Ha Linh Company Limited, Vice President of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Lam Dong province) nearly two months ago in China.
According to the initial investigation, on September 19, as soon as Ms. Ha Linh arrived at the airport in China, she was poisoned, beaten and robbed. She reported to the local police but did not know she was poisoned so she went back to the hotel to rest and later died.
Chinese police coordinated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to investigate and determined that the suspect had fled to Taiwan (China) after attacking Ms. Linh. This person confessed that he was hired to kill the victim.
Chinese authorities suspect that Ms. Ha Linh was poisoned because of a business conflict and that at least one other person is involved in the case.

A leader of the Criminal Police Department - Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam said that according to regulations, if the incident happened in China, the investigation agency of this country is in charge of the whole thing, including the forensic examination. The Ministry of Public Security only provides judicial support, coordinates the investigation, and provides information they request for clarification.
"We have been informed about the arrest of the suspect. The victim's body will be handed over to his family this week," said the leader of the Criminal Police Department, adding that several senior investigators have gone to China to continue to coordinate the investigation and expand the case.
Ms. Linh's tea business is considered the largest in Vietnam with 200 hectares of tea in Da Lat City, the products are mainly exported to the Taiwanese and Chinese markets. In addition to owning a tea company, Ms. Linh also runs a restaurant, coffee and beauty care business in Da Lat.
Ms. Linh and her husband (a Taiwanese businessman) founded Haiyil Tea Company in 2002. Six years later, the couple separated and she founded Ha Linh Company until now.
On September 19, Ms. Linh asked her personal lawyer to draft a contract and then go to China to sign it with a partner. Three days later, Ha Linh's family and company suddenly received notice that the businesswoman had died in China.
After the above incident, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee received a telegram from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou stating: "Ms. Ha Thuy Linh was invited to drink water by a business partner and then fell into a coma and was robbed of all her property. She was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but did not survive and died on the morning of September 22. According to medical diagnosis, Ms. Linh suffered damage to her pancreas and a ruptured rectum due to external force..."
Upon receiving the above dispatch, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province promptly issued a document requesting the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou to facilitate the early settlement of procedures so that relatives could bring Ms. Linh's body back to the country and work with the relevant authorities of the neighboring country to clarify the cause of death and related issues to protect the rights and interests of Vietnamese workers according to regulations.
At the same time, the Ministry of Public Security also officially assigned a police team under C45 to coordinate with Chinese police to investigate her death.
In early November, Chinese authorities issued a death certificate and sent it to Vietnam for the family to complete legal procedures related to the company's operations. At the same time, China increased the Ministry of Public Security's investigation to arrest the suspects.
