On November 13, Hai Phong police said they had arrested Vu The Thuy (32 years old) at the Quang Ninh border area while he was trying to cross the border into China. This afternoon, Thuy was taken to the scene to practice murder and burning.
At the police station, Thuy confessed that he did not have money to pay the large debt, so he tricked Nguyen Thi Hang into buying wild birds on the Thai Binh river embankment (Kien Thiet commune, Tien Lang district, Hai Phong) and then murdered her.
Taking two rings, a gold necklace and an Airblade motorbike, Thuy poured gasoline and burned the body of the 29-year-old victim.
After selling the victim's property, Thuy found her way to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) to cross the border but was arrested. All the evidence was recovered by the authorities.
Earlier, on the afternoon of November 9, residents of Kien Thiet commune discovered Ms. Hang’s body. At the scene, Hai Phong police determined that this was a case of murder, robbery, and burning to destroy evidence.
Ms. Hang is the owner of a hair salon, leaving the salon late in the afternoon of November 7.
