Suspect in murder of farm owner turns himself in

Suspect Nguyen Thanh Tuan, who lives in the same commune as the victim, confessed to killing Ms. Huynh Thi Mai, the owner of a cattle farm in Cai Be district, Tien Giang province.

On the evening of June 1, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Sau - Head of the Criminal Police Department of Tien Giang Provincial Police - said that the suspect who murdered Ms. Huynh Thi Mai (45 years old, residing in An Cu commune, Cai Be district, Tien Giang) and robbed her property had come to the police station to surrender.

The suspect was identified as Nguyen Thanh Tuan (29 years old, living in the same commune as the victim). At the police station, Tuan admitted all his crimes.

At around 3:30 p.m. on May 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang and his wife, Ms. Mai, went to the garden to visit the cattle farm about 200 meters from their house. A while later, because Ms. Mai did not come back into the house, Mr. Hoang went to look for her and discovered Ms. Mai lying dead in the bushes nearby with many wounds.

At the scene, Mrs. Mai’s body was found lying face down on the ground. Her belongings, including a gold ring and a gold necklace, were missing.
