Fishermen in Dien Hai and Dien Kim communes of Dien Chau district (Nghe An) have a tradition of catching seafood by rafts. Each raft is made by fishermen from rudimentary materials: meter poles, foam boards... and fishing lines. Therefore, rafts can only be used for 4-5 years. Fisherman Nguyen Van Manh in Dien Kim commune said that in the past, people often used materials from damaged rafts to build barns, fuel, etc., but recently people have used them less, so damaged rafts are often thrown away on the shore. Therefore, during the rainy and stormy season, materials from rafts are easily swept out to sea by waves. Photo: XH |
