Nghe An fishermen have a bumper year-end fishing trip
(Baonghean.vn) - In the days leading up to Tet, many fishing boats of Quynh Luu fishermen (Nghe An) are still bustling back to shore. On the last trip of the year, fishermen bring back dozens of tons of seafood.
Available atLach Quen fishing port, Tien Thuy commune on the morning of the 30th of Tet, although it was close to Lunar New Year, the atmosphere of seafood purchasing at the fishing port was still bustling when fishing boats of fishermen in Quynh Luu district continuously returned to shore.
Fisherman Ho Van Tu in Tien Thuy commune said: “Our boat set sail on the 18th of the lunar calendar, after 10 days it returned to shore to sell seafood and at the same time take a Tet holiday. Although not as successful as previous trips, this trip the boat caught 10 tons of fish and squid of all kinds, bringing in a total income of more than 350 million VND. After deducting expenses, each crew member earned 4-5 million VND, if we count the two trips this month, each crew member also earned 8-10 million VND.”

Crew member Nguyen Van Minh in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) said that his ship returned to shore with 10 tons.hairtailworth about 200 million VND. On this occasion, the price of hairtail fish is high, so the income of fishermen has increased significantly. Currently, hairtail fish costs from 170,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, an increase of 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg compared to 2 - 3 months ago.
At the beginning of the year, fishing encountered many difficulties, diseases occurred, and seafood resources were scarce, affecting the lives of fishermen. However, in the last months of the year, thanks to the stable market and high prices, all seafood caught was purchased by traders.

With nearly 1,300 vessels, including 700 vessels with a capacity of 90 CV or more, in 2020, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the weather, the entire Quynh Luu district exploited more than 74 thousand tons. With the achieved results, Quynh Luu district is encouraging fishermen to go offshore, hoping that the next trips will be lucky.
