On the night of February 26, a major fire broke out at Mr. Phan Van Long's house, the fire spread from the cowshed to the house, burning many properties. Mr. Long said that the night before, at 7:30 p.m., while his family was having dinner, his youngest son, who was disabled, suddenly ran straight to the cowshed. Thinking something was wrong, Mr. Long ran out and discovered that the cowshed was on fire, and his son was trapped inside. Because he was stuttering, he could not call out. The fire engulfed the cowshed, Mr. Long only had time to pull the door open to save his son, then ran out to the yard to shout.

At that moment, the villagers ran to cut the electricity, pulled the water hose, put out the fire, opened the barn door, and rescued the cows and pigs. From the barn, the fire spread to the second floor of the house next door and burned fiercely. Due to the narrow terrain, the fire was extremely difficult to put out. Fortunately, the local authorities were able to promptly report and call the fire department.

“After opening the cowshed door, the fire became more intense, I thought it was impossible to save anything. Luckily, the neighbors and the fire department arrived in time,” Mr. Long shared.

Thanks to the support of the fire department, the fire was completely extinguished at around 9:00 p.m. the same day. The fire that night caused Mr. Long's family great damage, estimated at hundreds of millions of dong. The upper floor of the house and the cowshed were completely burned. The roof of the house completely collapsed, leaving only the walls. Many properties inside the house and cowshed such as beds, couches, wardrobes, refrigerators, mattresses, rice, straw, etc. were burned.

The cause of the fire, according to Mr. Long, may have been due to the family's carelessness when dumping trash.

After the fire, people in the neighborhood and local organizations and unions visited, encouraged and joined hands to help Mr. Long’s family overcome the consequences. On the night of February 26, many people stayed up with Mr. Long’s family to keep watch, in case the fire flared up again. The work of cleaning up the scene, transporting burnt objects, broken tiles, bricks, etc. lasted until noon on February 27.

Thanh Luong Commune has called on local people and children living far away from home in the spirit of mutual love and support to join hands in donating material to support Mr. Long's family. Up to now, in addition to cash, many people have also supported his family with thousands of miscellaneous bricks.

On the afternoon of February 28, trucks of mixed bricks were delivered to Mr. Long’s house. Neighbors are working together to transport and rearrange the bricks so that his family can repair the house and cowshed.
