Vinh city residents join forces to fight flooding

(Baonghean.vn) – Flood prevention in the area is an important content that Vinh City focuses on implementing. The purpose of the campaign is to serve the 2017 winter crop production and the following crops, while preventing flooding and environmental pollution in the block, hamlet, and residential area.

Flood prevention requires the active participation of the entire political system and the entire population, creating a regular and widespread movement to be ready to respond to any storm or flood situation that may occur.

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Sy Chien - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee emphasized: In 2017, the weather was harsh, storms and rains had many potential abnormalities, typically storm No. 2 and storm No. 10 directly hit Nghe An province in general and Vinh City in particular, so the city requested localities to seriously and strongly mobilize, create a large movement to limit damage, overcome the situation of flooding in fields and urban areas caused by natural disasters.

Vinh City People's Committee has assigned specific targets on the volume of excavation, dredging and solidification of intra-field and inner-city canals and environmental sanitation areas to 25/25 wards and communes in the area.

In the morning of the campaign, despite heavy rain, hundreds of people from Hung Hoa commune and other localities actively cleared bushes, dredged canals to clear the flow and cleaned the environment.

This is an annual activity of Vinh city. After many years of implementation, remarkable results have been achieved such as reducing the level of flooding in each block, hamlet, and residential group during heavy rain or natural disasters, ensuring environmental sanitation, limiting risks in agricultural production, aquaculture, etc.
