In recent days, people in Con Cuong district have been extremely shocked by the brutal murder of Pham Thi Hang (17 years old, residing in Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district) at the top of Pu Mat mountain. In particular, when they learned that the main suspect was Pham Van Quy, the victim's lover, many people were even more surprised.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the photo of the murderer in the newspaper. This young man was fair-skinned, scholarly, and looked so gentle. How could he be so cruel to his lover?” said Nguyen Huy Cuong, a resident of Bong Khe commune.

Talking about her boyfriend, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (40 years old, the victim's mother) also confirmed: "Quy often comes to visit and eat here. Quy looks very gentle and polite, that's why the family agreed to let the two of them love each other."

Although he has never met his daughter’s lover, Pham Dinh Minh (39 years old) did not object: “I am currently working in Laos, but through phone calls, my wife told me about her lover. I believe in my daughter and only reminded her to try to study hard first, and think about the future later. But unexpectedly…”.

From the moment she saw Hang’s body, the mother cried bitterly. For the past few days, she has been bedridden, not eating or drinking. She never expected things to turn out this way.

According to research, Pham Van Quy is the youngest child in a family of 3 children. As the only son in the family, Quy was spoiled and got whatever he wanted. After finishing 9th grade, because he failed the entrance exam to high school, Quy dropped out of school and then applied to learn welding.

6 months ago, Quy and Hang officially fell in love. Since then, they have regularly posted photos of each other on their personal Facebook pages. Hang has repeatedly affirmed that this is the love of her life.

However, recently Quy has been addicted to lottery and often loses money. Knowing this, Hang tried many times to stop him but failed, leading to frequent arguments between the two.

Recently, Quy had to borrow a large sum of money because he lost a bet. This made Hang depressed and she suggested breaking up. Unexpectedly, because she could not get him back, he used a knife to stab his lover to death.

Regarding the incident, Con Cuong District Police said that this unit initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Pham Van Quy for 4 months for murder.

Earlier, on the evening of December 1, authorities discovered the body of Pham Thi Hang at the top of Pu Mat Mountain. An autopsy revealed that the victim had suffered more than 10 injuries.

Currently, the defendant Quy has been transferred to Nghe An Provincial Police for further investigation.
