Is it easy for maids and students to find work?
Digital economy has appeared quite a lot in Vietnam with many forms such as e-commerce, sharing economy, data-related services...
The development of the digital economy is an inevitable and global trend. In Vietnam, in recent years, digital economic forms have begun to appear, such as models providing transportation sharing services, accommodation sharing services, or paid television services...
However, not only domestic enterprises, but also many foreign enterprises have realized that the Vietnamese market is very "fertile" so they have invested heavily and earned a lot of profit, but the concern is that many foreign enterprises do not pay taxes. This creates an unequal competition between domestic and foreign enterprises.
Last September, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 52 on a number of policies and strategies to proactively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This is a guideline, demonstrating the political determination of the Party and State in developing Vietnam's digital economy.
However, in reality, the development of the digital economy in Vietnam is still facing many challenges. If we talk about the success of foreign businesses operating cross-border technology-based services in our country, surely everyone knows Youtube, Facebook, Grab, Nexflix,... All the services we use on these platforms... seem to be free for users, but in fact, they all earn a lot of money from online advertising.

70% of the online advertising market share in Vietnam belongs to foreign companies such as Facebook and Google. |
Mr. Luu Dinh Phuc, Director of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications, stated: “Nearly 70% of the online advertising market share in Vietnam belongs to foreign companies such as Facebook and Google. In just 10 years, we have lost about 50% of our advertising market share. Therefore, many content producers for Google and Facebook have thoroughly exploited the increased frequency of trusted information as an economic solution, along with other negative behaviors, distorting the investment business environment, hindering the operations of many healthy businesses.”
The obvious economic benefits have made foreign business service platforms overwhelm domestic businesses. If you look for a ride-hailing app, when asking some users, most of them only use Grab, with reasons such as convenience, cheap prices, many promotions...
Profits from online advertising and huge investment capital have helped foreign businesses compete and gain more profits from service users as well as service providers on those platforms. However, it is undeniable that domestic businesses and individuals are still applying technology models to do business on digital platforms.
There are many applications that can be installed on phones, helping users to call cars, motorbikes, deliver and receive goods, book airline tickets, order food, rent rooms, hire tutors, hire maids, hire home appliance repair services, etc., and can even connect with doctors for home health care.
With a successful startup rate of up to 30% (higher than the world average of 10%), for many years now, the Technology Commercialization Project following the Silicon Valley model (VSV) under the Ministry of Science and Technology has also demonstrated the unprecedented development of many digital economic models of young Vietnamese people. Many startup groups have been successful.

For example, Canets, a job-matching application for students, after nearly 3 years of operation, has created income for tens of thousands of students, with a value of more than 15 billion VND.
It is estimated that the success rate after each job search through the application is 70%, students have an income twice as high as when looking for a job at tutoring centers, maid centers, or after-hours sales...
Not only providing a platform to help families connect with students who need to find jobs such as hourly helpers, find tutors, etc., Canets also creates a system to evaluate workers. Thanks to that, every day on Canets there are about 30 new transactions, looking for helpers or tutors who are students working part-time.
Digital economy has appeared quite a lot in Vietnam in many forms such as e-commerce, sharing economy, data-related services... However, the development of digital economy in Vietnam is really facing legal barriers, competitiveness of foreign enterprises that have gone ahead and have a lot of experience, awareness of many levels of government and of the people themselves./.
