It is known that this data includes members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and data on imported complete vehicles of units that are not VAMA members.
According to the announcement of VAMA, the total sales of the market reached 28,004 vehicles, including 17,514 passenger cars; 9,334 commercial vehicles and 1,156 specialized vehicles. Sales of passenger cars increased by 36%; commercial vehicles decreased by 10% and specialized vehicles decreased by 2% compared to the previous month.
The output of domestically assembled cars reached 20,726 vehicles, up 15% over the previous month, and the number of imported cars was 7,728, up 14% over the previous month.
According to experts, the increase in car sales in July compared to June is due to the fear of the ghost month (the 7th lunar month). August coincides with the ghost month in Vietnam, so it is predicted that the number of cars sold will decrease sharply because people are afraid to buy cars in this month, which is considered to have many risks.
According to VAMA, total sales of the entire market up to the end of July 2016 reached 163,867 units, an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year. Of which, passenger cars increased by 28%; commercial vehicles increased by 36% and specialized vehicles increased by 49% compared to the same period last year.
By the end of July 2016, sales of domestically assembled cars increased by 35% while imported cars increased by 24% compared to the same period last year.
