These days, along with the people of the whole country joyfully looking forward to the great holidays of the nation, the generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren of martyr and revolutionary soldier Nguyen Ngo Dat have more joy because their grandfather's and great-grandfather's name was given to a street in Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city.

In the church of martyr Nguyen Ngo Dat in hamlet 2, Chau Nhan commune (Hung Nguyen), the grandchildren and great-grandchildren have reserved a room as a family tradition room, including valuable documents and artifacts left by generations of grandparents and fathers. Among them is the book series "Nghe An - Communist Mirrors" compiled by the Propaganda Department of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and published by the National Political Publishing House. This book series includes articles about martyr Nguyen Ngo Dat and his two sons, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh and Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh. The article about martyr Nguyen Ngo Dat is published in volume 3, introducing the life of revolutionary activities and the sacrifice of the loyal communist soldier.
Martyr Nguyen Ngo Dat (1890 - 1932), a descendant of the Nguyen Duc family in Phuc My village, Van Vien commune, Hung Nguyen district (now Chau Nhan commune, Hung Nguyen district). He was born into a patriotic family, his father was Nguyen Duc Dieu, who had close ties with the Van Than movement; his eldest brother also participated in this movement and was executed by the French at Hong Linh mountain (Ha Tinh). As a child, Nguyen Ngo Dat studied Chinese characters and was the top candidate in the region, so people often called him Dat.
Born into a family and a countryside with a rich tradition of patriotism, Nguyen Ngo Dat was enlightened about the revolution early. In 1927, he was admitted to the Tan Viet Party, assigned to build a base in the Phuc My area. To propagate revolutionary ideals and arouse patriotism among the people, he opened a class to teach the national language to children in the village, bought Vietnamese books and newspapers with progressive content to spread the revolutionary ideology of the time. After the Tan Viet Party disintegrated, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930. During this time, he established a printing group to print and distribute leaflets, and copied revolutionary documents to disseminate in the Party cells. He propagated and enlightened a number of elite people and proceeded to establish the first Party cell in Phuc My with himself as Secretary, and organized the construction of Party cells in Phu Vinh, Xuan Nha, and My Du. His family's private home became the secret operating point of the Finance Committee, the Central Region Party Committee, and the printing group.
After operating for 4 months, the base was exposed, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Dat and his eldest son Nguyen Xuan Thanh had to escape and change their location to ensure secrecy and safety. His family's private home was occupied by the green-clad soldiers, who set up a military post, his wife and young children were chased out of the house, and had to live with relatives.

In early 1931, the French colonialists and their henchmen carried out a policy of brutal suppression of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement, so the local struggle movement somewhat subsided. In order to stabilize the people's spirit and rebuild the revolutionary base, in his position as Secretary of the Hung Nguyen District Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Dat and his comrades in the District Party Committee Executive Committee consolidated the movement, organized training for Red Self-Defense teams to fight the enemy and protect the people. Thanks to that, the flame of the revolutionary struggle movement was maintained, waiting for a favorable opportunity to flare up and spread.
On the night of July 14, 1931, on the way back from the revolutionary base, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Dat and his son were surrounded and captured by the enemy, but they only captured his son, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, and took him to cell number 6, Vinh prison. On August 3, 1931, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Dat was arrested in Ky Anh (Ha Tinh) and taken to cell number 2, Vinh prison, meaning that both father and son were detained in the same prison. Later, Mr. Nguyen Ngo Dat was sentenced by the Nam Trieu Court of Nghe An province with 3 sentences (2 death sentences, 1 life sentence), and finally they executed sentence number 108 with a life sentence of hard labor, exiled him to Lao Bao. On April 23, 1932, he was transferred to Buon Ma Thuot Prison (Dak Lak). On September 28, 1932, he breathed his last at the age of 42, having fought and sacrificed his whole life for the revolutionary cause.

To commemorate the merits of the loyal revolutionary soldier, on November 24, 1961, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam awarded the Certificate of Merit to martyr Nguyen Ngo Dat who sacrificed for the Fatherland, for the revolutionary cause of national liberation. In December 1993, after more than 60 years, his descendants found his grave, and his family cooperated with the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee to build a place of worship in Tu An ward, Buon Ma Thuot city.
